Updated: Jul 31, 2024

Hey girl hey!

Wedding planning can absolutely be the most fun part of your engagement! From dreaming up colors and designs, to thinking about the life you will create with your soon to be spouse. It’s a season filled with joy and excitement! One thing we often find is that couples are beyond, excited as this season begins and more than ready for it to end as they approach wedding day. Decision making, family drama, and new expectations can cause even the most hopeful to be ready to scream! So how can you ensure your day is peaceful and enjoyable? You prepare. The typical wedding day has many moving parts, including the bride herself. You will be moving all day whether it's for photos, attending your ceremony, cocktail hour, and everything in between. The last thing you want is for something to go wrong, whether it’s messing up your makeup, wearing the wrong shoes, staining your dress, the list is endless and preparation is key.

As your expert wedding planners, let us help prepare some of your Bridal Essentials:

1. Emergency Wedding Kit. First and foremost, keeping an emergency kit will always be safe for any arising problems. Band-aids, creams, everything of that nature. But the kit we’re talking about is a little different for this special occasion. Including all things mentioned, we’re also talking about bobby pins, blotting papers, or deodorant. Anything you could foresee being ruined, you might want to prepare for.

2. Stain remover. LADIES! You will most likely be wearing a white dress. Nobody is perfect and spills are bound to happen. A splotch of champagne or even a touch of lipstick will do it. Just to be safe, we would highly recommend keeping stain remover in your emergency wedding kit with most of your other essentials.

3. Fashion Tape. This essential is not just for you, but for your entire bridal party! Believe it or not, things can come undone and fashion tape will help prevent wardrobe malfunctions. This is another great tip to help keep things in place.

4. Your signature perfume. Is a must! Have you ever hugged someone and thought... “Wow they smell really good, I wonder what perfume they used?” This is exactly the effect you want. It’s something that will make a statement for your special occasion and leave people remembering your unique scent.

5. Lip Gloss. Keeping lip gloss at hand is key. Just like your perfume, lip gloss serves to be a signature part of your look because it ties everything together. On the other hand, it can smear and wear throughout the day. This can happen while eating or drinking, which is why it is crucial to reapply your lip gloss throughout the day.

6. Comfy shoes. Yes, please! Not every gal can stand in heels for 8 hours. Some cute flats, sandals, or even sneakers will do. The recent trend for brides has been a cute pair of white tennis shoes. With that, you’ll most likely want to make the switch going into your reception. Seriously, with all the walking and dancing you will be doing, this tip is a lifesaver.

7. Drinks and Snacks. This one is a no-brainer. We will not have a bride pass out on our watch. As wedding planners and coordinators, part of our job day-of-wedding is to make sure you are hydrated and fed! Brides, please eat and drink water.

8. Marriage license. This should probably be at the top of your list because, without it, your marriage wouldn’t exactly be official right? Well, yes this is crucial to have during your special day, but it could also be passed off to your officiant or wedding planner for holding. If you know you have this piece of paper to sign on the day of your wedding, you are all set.

9. Vendor’s gratuity. A tip is never required but always appreciated. Many professionals will come together to help make your entire day a big success, in which you could express gratitude by giving a tip. Make sure to bring envelopes and hand them out once you see/meet with your vendors during your wedding day, or you can do so afterward.

10. Wedding Vows. This one is personal. You wrote your vows and it’ll be for everyone to hear. Your groom can easily store it in his pocket, but what about you? Your dress won’t have pockets and you will be carrying your bouquet up the aisle. Your safest bet is to have someone else, like your officiant, hold onto your vows up until the ceremony. That way you won’t have to forget what to say when the time comes.

BONUS/BIGGEST PRO TIP: Have the conversations. Whether with your mom, aunt, sister or bestfriend, go ahead and lay out your expectations for a successful day. Be honest. It’s your once in

a lifetime day and you deserve to enjoy it fully. Just remember to lace the truth in love.

We’re in your corner cheering you on and oh you — Brides, you’ve got this!
