How to Design a Wedding That Feels Like You (Not a Pinterest Copy-Paste)

A day filled with peace and joy and best friends!

Let’s be honest - wedding planning in the age of Pinterest, Instagram, and TikTok can be...a lot. Everywhere you look, there’s a new trend, aesthetic, or color palette you’re "supposed" to use. And while inspiration is amazing, the truth is: your wedding shouldn’t look like everyone else’s. It should feel like you.

The most memorable weddings aren’t always the biggest or most over-the-top. They’re the ones where every detail feels intentional, personal, and true to the couple. So if you’re looking for unique wedding ideas and want to plan a meaningful day—not just photogenic—you’re in the right place.

Here’s how to design a wedding that feels like you and not like a Pinterest copy-paste.

1. Start with your story, not your theme

Before you pick a color palette or rent a flower wall, take a step back. Think about you and your partner:

  • How did you meet?

  • What do you love doing together?

  • Are there inside jokes, shared hobbies, or family traditions that matter to you?

  • What do you want your guests to feel on the day?

When we start with who you are, everything else—your design, your layout, your flow—starts to fall into place. This is how we create personalized weddings that feel effortless and authentic.

2. Choose a vibe before you choose colors

Instead of picking “sage green and blush,” try describing the feeling you want your day to have. Maybe it’s:

  • A cozy dinner party vibe

  • A modern city celebration

  • A romantic garden party

  • A colorful, bold, joy-filled bash

When you focus on the mood first, your wedding design becomes more layered and meaningful—and less likely to feel like a copy of someone else’s.

3. Add intentional details, not just pretty ones

Anyone can add trendy signage or a champagne wall. But when details actually mean something? That’s where the magic happens.

A few examples we have loved:

  • Signature cocktails named after a couple’s cats

  • Table numbers that included facts about the couple’s relationship

  • A ceremony aisle lined with books from the bride’s late grandfather’s collection

  • A handwritten note left at each guest’s seat

These kinds of touches make your wedding feel personal and create an amazing guest experience—which is exactly what you want.

4. Cut what doesn’t matter to you

This might be the most freeing part: you don’t have to do something just because it’s “tradition.”

Not into bouquet tosses? Skip it.Don’t care about a four-tier cake? Do a dessert bar.

When you cut out the things that don’t matter to you, you create more space (and budget!) for what does.

5. Trust your vendor team

Working with a planner, florist, designer, and photographer you actually vibe with is key. When you trust your team, they’ll take your vision and elevate it in ways you might not even think of. The best results always come from real collaboration, not micromanaging every detail.

This is why we always say: your wedding team should feel like a good fit from the start—because we’re helping bring one of the most meaningful days of your life to life.

Create a Wedding That Feels Right

At the end of the day, your wedding should feel like your love story—beautiful, honest, and uniquely yours. The design should reflect who you are, not who TikTok says you should be. So take a deep breath, shut the tabs full of mood boards, and start thinking about what really matters to you two.

And if you want help building a day that feels like you from start to finish? That’s what we are here for.
